Repairs

I am available for — and love — checking and repairing Torah scrolls. Torah repair is about returning a scroll to kosher status, if possible, which can be a relatively simple, quick process or a more complicated, longer process.

Typically a synagogue will hire me to do an initial check of one or more sifrei Torah, which takes about two hours, after which I provide a quote for the repair work. Fully repairing and restoring a Torah scroll can take between two weeks and three months, and costs anywhere between $500 and $5,000 and up, depending on what’s needed.

Please contact me if you want to talk about Torah checking and repair work; I can also visit your congregation, school, or community for educational programming around repair. And, if you’ve visited this page, you might also be interested in this excellent primer, written by one of my soferet colleagues, on the basics of keeping your sifrei Torah nice and healthy.
